Teens looking for something creative to do before school gets rolling can drop into a free improv workshop at the Concord Library on Tuesday, Aug. 11, no sign-up needed.

The Cabarrus Arts Council is hosting Improv 101 for ages 12–18 from 4 to 5 p.m. at 27 Union St. N. The session includes games, skits and improv exercises. The council describes it as a chance for teens to explore their acting skills in a low-pressure setting.

That workshop is one of four free, drop-in programs the council has scheduled across three Cabarrus County communities this month, according to its event listings.

Art Club – Harrisburg Library

Artists ages 12 and up can gather Saturday, Aug. 15, from 3:15 to 5 p.m. at the Harrisburg Library, 201 Sims Pkwy. Participants can bring their own supplies or borrow from the library's collection, and work on pieces in progress or start fresh from prepared prompts. No registration required.

Coffee & Canvas – Mount Pleasant Library

Adults 18 and older can follow a step-by-step painting tutorial on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Library, 1111 Washington St. Light refreshments and coffee are included. The program is presented by Lisa DiVincenzo and is geared toward beginners. Seating is limited.

Crochet Worry Worm – Mount Pleasant Library

On Thursday, Aug. 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., adults can learn to crochet a small "worry worm" at the same Mount Pleasant location. The beginner-friendly session requires no prior experience and no registration, though seating is limited.

No experience is needed for any of the four sessions. None require advance sign-up, though the two Mount Pleasant programs may fill up.
