The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office has secured funding for mobile kitchen and bathroom units after deputies identified the need while aiding Hurricane Helene victims in western North Carolina.
State Rep. Grant Campbell, who represents District 83 covering parts of Cabarrus and Rowan counties, announced the acquisition on X Wednesday, Oct. 14. Campbell wrote that the Cabarrus County members of the NC House Republican caucus "went to work and they now have the funds to acquire them."
Campbell named fellow Cabarrus-area Reps. Brian Echevarria of District 82 and Jonathan Almond of District 73 in the post.
Helene struck western North Carolina in September 2024, killing more than 100 people and causing an estimated $60 billion in damage, according to WFAE.
Campbell's post did not specify the cost of the mobile units, the funding mechanism or a timeline for delivery.
