Concord opened South Piedmont Conference girls tennis play with an 8-0 shutout of Central Cabarrus on Monday, Aug. 10, while Northwest Cabarrus edged West Cabarrus 5-4 in a nine-match nail-biter the same afternoon.

The two results are the first SPC girls tennis scores of the 2026 season for Cabarrus County programs, according to the Salisbury Post.

The Spiders' 8-0 margin means Concord swept every contest against the Vikings without dropping a point. Northwest Cabarrus had no such cushion, needing five of nine matches to survive the Wolverines in the tightest possible dual-meet margin.

Individual match results and player names were not included in the published scores.

The schedule moved quickly after Monday's openers. Concord hosted Mount Pleasant on Tuesday, Aug. 11, and Northwest Cabarrus traveled to Central Cabarrus on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Results from those matches have not been reported.
