The Cox Mill Chargers and West Cabarrus Wolverines opened the 2026-27 SPC boys soccer season with dominant shutout victories Monday, Aug. 10, combining for 12 goals while holding their opponents scoreless.

West Cabarrus posted the biggest margin of the night, routing the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans 8-0. Cox Mill blanked the Concord Spiders 4-0 in the other all-Cabarrus County matchup.

Both games were played two days before the first day of the 2026-27 school year for Cabarrus County Schools, which begins Wednesday, Aug. 12.

The results leave Cox Mill and West Cabarrus at 1-0 in conference play, while Concord and Northwest Cabarrus each open 0-1 after absorbing lopsided losses. The eight-goal margin for West Cabarrus was the largest among the three SPC boys soccer results reported Monday.

Northwest Cabarrus had little time to regroup. The Trojans were scheduled to host Forest Hills on Tuesday, Aug. 11, just one day after the loss to West Cabarrus. The schedule stays busy for Northwest Cabarrus: South Iredell visits on Thursday, Aug. 13.

Elsewhere in the conference Monday, Salisbury and Gray Stone played to a 1-1 draw, according to the Salisbury Post.

The Salisbury Post's roundup did not include individual goal scorers for any of the Cabarrus County matches. Cox Mill's next scheduled conference opponent and Concord's next match were not listed in the published schedule.
