First Watch opened its second Concord restaurant Monday, Oct. 12, filling the former O'Charley's building at 1389 Concord Pkwy. N near Carolina Mall.

The breakfast and brunch chain hired about 30 employees for the North Concord location, which sits across from Atrium Health Cabarrus, the Charlotte Observer reported. The 6,300-square-foot café seats more than 210 people and includes an indoor bar, according to a company news release cited by the Observer.

Construction documents had identified the project as First Watch Store #1236. Plans called for gutting much of the former O'Charley's interior, installing new flooring and making exterior upgrades, as Cabarrus Compass reported Sept. 25 when the opening was first announced.

The restaurant operates on a single daily shift. Its menu includes lemon ricotta pancakes, farm-stand breakfast tacos, omelettes and what the chain calls "million dollar bacon." Lunch options include burgers, sandwiches and salads. Fresh-squeezed juices and Project Sunrise coffee are also available.

First Watch rotates its seasonal menu five times a year. The North Concord location will launch its first seasonal menu this winter, the company said.

The chain is also offering complimentary Project Sunrise coffee during opening week, Cabarrus Compass reported. The first 100 customers on opening day were slated to receive a free tumbler as part of the launch promotion.

The new restaurant is the chain's second in Concord, joining the location at 8825 Christenbury Pkwy. near Concord Mills. The company operates more than 630 restaurants in 32 states, with several other locations across the Charlotte metro area.

First Watch is open daily from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 1389 Concord Pkwy. N, Concord, N.C. 28025.
