Bonefish Grill's Concord Mills restaurant is the chain's last Cabarrus County location after the seafood chain permanently closed its Birkdale Village spot in Huntersville in October.

The Huntersville closure ended a 14-year run at the shopping center, WSOC-TV reported. A sign on the door said the restaurant is "now closed," even though the location was still listed as "temporarily closed" online as of Tuesday, Oct. 27. A Bonefish Grill spokesperson told the Charlotte Business Journal the decision was a strategic business move.

No closure announcement has been made for the Concord Mills location. The chain also has a restaurant in Matthews, according to WSOC.

Bonefish said Birkdale employees will be given the opportunity to transfer to nearby restaurants.

The Birkdale closure follows a turnaround strategy that parent company Bloomin' Brands announced in November 2025. Bloomin' Brands closed 21 U.S. restaurants during the quarter ending in September 2025 and decided not to renew leases at 22 more, USA Today reported. The closures span Outback Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill and Carrabba's Italian Grill locations, CEO Mike Spanos said during a November 2025 conference call, according to USA Today.

Bloomin' Brands operates more than 1,450 restaurants worldwide, including 166 Bonefish Grill locations, USA Today reported, citing the company's third-quarter 2025 report. The company reported a net loss of $45.9 million that quarter.

Bonefish Grill was not the only restaurant to leave Birkdale Village in October. Foxcroft & Wine also closed at the shopping center earlier in the month after just two years, according to WSOC.

Meanwhile, Concord Mills is adding tenants. The Cheesecake Factory is expected to open at the mall Dec. 8, part of an expansion the Charlotte Business Journal reported will bring more than 300 jobs to the outlet center.
