Courtney Steinberg, a Democrat from Concord, is running for the Cabarrus County Board of Education in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. The official county filing list identifies three seats and six candidates: Democrats Steinberg, Pam Escobar and Mishell Williams, and Republicans William L. Barbee, Bubba Hartsell and Robert Kirk.
Background
Her campaign biography lists a music performance bachelor’s degree and industrial and labor relations master’s degree from West Virginia University. She describes 10 years in manufacturing human resources and moving to Concord with her family in 2017.
Steinberg says her community work includes reading tutoring, school PTO volunteering and board service with Community Civil Activist and PFLAG Concord-Kannapolis.
Policy priorities
Her campaign calls for stronger school funding, equitable teacher pay and additional staffing. She advocates collaborating with local and state elected officials on resources and allowing employees to raise workplace concerns without fear of retaliation.
Steinberg also supports clearer public information and responsiveness to families, limits on student screen time, teacher involvement in curriculum development and faster development and implementation of individualized education programs.
Correction: An earlier version listed James Kirk among the opponents and said no campaign website was located. The county list identifies Robert Kirk, and Steinberg’s campaign website supplies the positions above.
