Colin Williams, a Rowan-Cabarrus Community College student, was elected national executive vice president of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Collegiate at the organization's June conference in Nevada.

Williams' election caps a string of honors for the Concord-based college's FBLA chapter at the 2026 National Leadership Conference, held June 6–8. The chapter brought home two top-10 competitive finishes, a first-place challenge win and two chapter-level awards, the college announced Monday, Oct. 5.

Williams served as North Carolina FBLA Collegiate state president during the 2025–2026 term and held the national vice president of operations post before his election. The executive vice president role is his second consecutive year in national office. He also received the state's Who's Who in FBLA award at the conference.

Two Rowan-Cabarrus students placed in the top 10 nationally in individual events. Keydra Oglesby finished eighth in Foundations of Hospitality Management. Randi "June" Goodman-Godwin placed 10th in Foundations of Communication.

Noah Singer tied for first place in the GooseChase Challenge, a mobile-app competition in which participants earned points by completing missions throughout the conference.

The chapter itself earned the Hollis and Kitty Guy Gold Seal Chapter of Merit Award, which FBLA limits to two chapters per state or 15 percent of active chapters, whichever is greater. The chapter also received an Outstanding Chapter designation for yearlong achievement in membership growth, professional development, community service and competitive participation.

The conference drew more than 1,300 attendees from nearly 200 colleges across 29 states and territories. Rowan-Cabarrus students competed in more than 20 individual events spanning accounting, business law, digital design, entrepreneurship, hospitality management, marketing and technology.

"Our students truly made their mark through their talent, leadership and commitment," Rowan-Cabarrus President Dr. Carol S. Spalding said in the college's announcement. "To earn national recognition among students from colleges and universities across the country is an extraordinary accomplishment."

Rowan-Cabarrus reported record fall enrollment of 8,082 students for fall 2026, a 6.1% increase over the prior year. Cabarrus County voters will decide on a $60 million bond referendum for the college on Nov. 3, with an estimated annual impact of about $7.50 per $100,000 of assessed property value.
